A Marriage of Classical and Modern In Interior Design
Marriage is not only a unity of love and partnership, it’s also a unity of style and home.
In this custom-tailored, high-end Central Park West condo, a newly-married couple sought the expertise of the Francis Interiors team. The objective was clear: incorporate each individual’s design aesthetic and personality into the shared home while maximizing the prime views of Central Park in this historic building conversion by Argo and CetraRuddy.
As a returning client of Francis Interiors, our client had already experienced our team’s visionary direction and personalized approach to interior design. Overwhelmed by the task of completing a 4-year long renovation to his Central Park bachelor pad our team completed the project with optimal taste, giving the client peace of mind as well as a personal sanctuary to escape the chaos of the city.
Complementing the pre-war architectural bones with very high-end finishes and custom designed and fabricated furniture, Francis Interiors combined the couple’s seemingly opposed classical and modern design styles, producing a new luxury residence with notes that evoked masculinity, harmony and elegance.
Altering the developer’s original layout of the home, Francis flipped the design to favor views of Central Park, a creative layout that was later endorsed by the developer and the development's original architect designer. A custom millwork display, lacquered ceilings and floor-to-ceiling wall coverings married elements of strength and levity to the apartment palette, and fabrics designed by Ralph Lauren, Aerin and Holly Hunt adorned the bedding and furniture.

"When my husband, Noah, and I decided to buy an apartment together, we found the perfect place in a new conversion development. Noah had worked with other designers before and was hesitant to work with Francis since my prior apartment had a casual modern aesthetic while Noahʼs taste was more classic and refined. Noah feared that his point of view would not be well served. That fear melted away the day we had our first presentation of the design plans.
I was overflowing with joy the first time I saw it all come together in real life and not just a vision on paper or separate pieces of furniture. Every day when I am in our living room I am amazed that this beautiful room is part of our home.
Everyone – even my in-laws – comment on how gorgeous the fabrics and colors are. Our apartment is refined but also comfortable. It is classic with just the right amount of modern, colorful touches. It magically represents the combination of what both Noah and I wanted in our first home together. Francis Interiors made that happen."
