“You should always feel like you can display what’s important to you,” says Francis Toumbakaris, Founder and Principal Designer of Francis Interiors.

With this in mind, it was important to our clients that their upscale Harlem residence become an oasis to tastefully display their curated collection of Asian art and meaningful Buddha statues.

Each room presented a new opportunity to heighten the drama of the apartment: a low contemporary sofa allowed an unobstructed view of the Manhattan skyline; thoughtful lighting design hid the boxiness of the HVAC duct work and adorned the ceiling with intrigue; and the dressed fireplace of black porcelain marble countered the opposing wall of custom shelving and Buddha heads.

Through it all, the Francis Interiors team took advantage of each architectural asset while addressing and minimizing any design challenge, ensuring the clients’ needs and expectations were not only met but surpassed.
