Design on a Dime 2015

In a event that challenges designers to include everything that has been donated to their showroom, Francis Toumbakaris of Francis Interiors designed a vignette that was a melange of color, texture and fanciful delight. In his first appearance in the Housing Works Design on a Dime benefit, Francis created a fantasy room that blended a bathroom and lounge after his first donation came in the form of a soaking bathtub from ATM.

A master in bold and purposeful design, Francis found the perfect spot for every donation: from an 11-ft copper giraffe (donated by Design Lash) and a custom window treatment from The Shade Store, to custom upholstered chairs and an eclectic collection floor and ceiling light fixtures, this “Manhattan Penthouse Bath Lounge” was viscerally appealing and fun, pleasing donors and designers, and capturing the hearts of benefit attendees.
